NOTICE OF RACE


1.0 RULES
1.1 This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The prescriptions of US Sailing will apply, and be available at registration.
1.3 The organizing authority is the Club 420 Association. The event host is the Bellport Bay
Yacht Club.
1.4 No contestant shall use, either on or off the water, alcoholic beverages or use any controlled
substance, the possession of which is unlawful. This rule is in effect during the entire event,
from date and time of arrival through the time of departure from the locale. Penalties for a
violation of this rule may range from a reprimand to dismissal from the regatta.

2.0 ADVERTISING
2.1 Advertising will be restricted to Category A.

3.0 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 Applicants for the Club 420 North American Championship shall be 21 years of age or younger
at the end of 2006.
3.2 Individual membership is required in the Club 420 Association for both skipper and crew at
time of registration. If you or your crew has not paid your Association dues, they MUST accompany
the entry form.
3.3 Individual or family membership is required in US Sailing or the Canadian Yachting Association
for both skipper and crew.
3.4 The regatta is open to all boats of the Club 420 Class. Class legal Club 420s will be used.
Boats may be inspected throughout the event for compliance to the rules of the Class.
MAINSAILS MUST be brought to registration.
3.4. Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the
required fee, to Bellport Bay Yacht Club, PO Box 407, Bellport, NY 11713
3.5 The regatta shall be limited to 150 boats.
3.6 If the number of entries exceeds eighty boats the Association reserves the right to divide the
fleet.
3.7 Any participant under eighteen years of age must have a signed Health and Medical Form on file
with the committee. The medical form may be downloaded from WWW.CLUB420.ORG.
 

4.0 FEES
>4.1 The entry fee is US$185.00 if postmarked by July 27, 2006. For entries postmarked after
July 27, 2006, the entry fee will be US$210.00. The entry fee includes t-shirts,
3 breakfasts, on the water snacks, awards, and, one dinner. No entries will be accepted after
August 11, 2006 or before if the Maximum number of 150 entrants is received by the Registrar.

5.0 SCHEDULE
NO boats can be delivered to the site before 6:00AM, Monday, August 14, 2006

Monday, August 14 – 1000-2000 Registration (Bring mainsail) at Tent, Bellport Marina Park at the
southern end of Bellport Lane, Bellport, NY 11713
- 1430 Practice Race
Tuesday, August 15 – 0730 Continental Breakfast
- 0700-0800 Late Registration (Bring mainsail) CHECK IN
- 0830 Skippers’ meeting at tent in Bellport Marina Park
- 1000 First warning signal
- 1830 Dinner at Bellport Village dock
Wednesday, August 16 - 0730 Continental Breakfast
- 1000 First Warning signal
Thursday, August 17 -0730 Continental Breakfast
- 1000 First Warning signal
- 1500 No start after this time
Awards Ceremony at Bellport Village dock ASAP

6.0 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

7.0 SCORING
7.1 Nine races are scheduled. Three races will constitute a series. A boat’s series score will be
the sum of her race scores, with her worst race score excluded only if six or more races are completed.

8.0 COACH AND SUPPORT BOATS
Team leaders, coaches and other support personnel shall not be in the racing area from the time of
the preparatory signal for the first class to start until all boats have finished that race or the race
committee signals postponement, general recall or abandonment. Each support boat will fly a flag supplied
by the organizing authority. They shall not assist or interfere with any sailor during a race, except in
an emergency. The penalty for failing to comply with this requirement will be the disqualification of all
boats associated with the support personnel.

9.0 BERTHING
Boats shall be kept in their assigned places at the East Park area of the Bellport Marina.

10. PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the skippers and crews finishing in the top five positions; the top three juniors,
skippers and crews, who have not reached their sixteenth birthday during 2006; the top three all female teams,
skippers and crews; and the top placed Canadian team.

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing
authority and host club will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained
in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the
